Background: Gloria Montenegro, who has an extensive background in academic
advisement, is an excellent resource for Teacher TRAC
students. Gloria devotes her time to assisting Teacher TRAC students as well
as coordinating the online counseling program and
participating in campus-wide counseling. Prior to coming to Cerritos College, Gloria was a counselor in the
Ka Lama Prep Program, where she assisted students
transition from Leeward Community College to the University of
Hawaii at Manoa. If you are a Teacher TRAC student, Please seek her assistance; she is an invaluable resource!

Background: Chris has more that 30 years of experience in
academic counseling and
is a dedicated counselor, contributing not only to the Teacher TRAC program, but also to campus-wide and on-line counseling. She is
a Coro Foundation and Educational Policy Fellowship Program fellow and
has been honored by the Vice President of Student
Services with a STAR award. Chris Sugiyama is an excellent resource for Teacher TRAC students;

Background: Debbie is a part time
counselor who counsels students in our Elementary Pathway for the Teacher TRAC Program.
Debbie is an excellent resource for Teacher TRAC students; please seek her
assistance; she is an invaluable resource!

Education: B.A. in Psychology {USC} and
M.A. in Counseling {Loyola Marymount University}.
Classes Taught: CG classes (CG 1,
CG 50 and CG 200) as part of the Learning Communities program.
Background: Rocio has been counseling at
the Community College level since 2000. After getting her education, she
worked as a part-time counselor at Santa Monica College, Fullerton College,
and Santa Ana College before coming to Cerritos College. In 2003 she
came to Cerritos College as the full-time Project HOPE Counselor. In
2005 she made a move to Central Counseling. She is now one of the Health
Occupations Counselors as well as the Co-Counselor for the Science,
Engineering, and Math Division. Along with these duties, she counsels
our TS3P Students and does online counseling for the college.

Classes Taught: CG classes (CG
200) as part of the Learning Communities program.
Background: Brittany has been counseling
at the Community College level since 2001. In addition to TS3P
counseling she is also the Cerritos College Transfer Center
Co-Director/Counselor and a SEM (Science, Engineering and Math) counselor
for the department. Along with these duties, she counsels our TS3P Students
in the Teacher TRAC Program.
Personal Thoughts: Brittany
believes her role as a counselor is to be an advocate for the student and to
encourage them to work towards their full potential. She hopes to provide a
safe environment that is based on trust, mutual respect, open communication,
supportiveness, being genuine, feedback, challenging, encouraging, goal
setting and constant re-evaluations. Establishing this safe environment
both in the classroom and in a counseling session allows her to better
connect with her students and ultimately facilitate a greater understanding
of what the student needs from her in working towards their educational
goals.

Background: Phil Salazar has over 35
years of experience in Teaching and Counseling in the High School and
Community College levels. He currently works with a number of students
in many different departments including Technology Division Students,
Veteran Affairs, Career Technical Education (CTE) Students, and Disabled
Student Programs and Services. Phil has been a member and consultant
for various programs at local Universities as well as a member of various
